Weekly Fun-Run Schedule: (July 5 - July 11)

Mon, July 5 morning:

Easy Cheesy comfortable pace 3 mile run through Old Town Key West starting at the Green Parrot Bar at 6 am. Great day for beginners!

Tues, July 6 evening:

5-mile Tempo run (1 mile slow, 1 mile faster,1 mile slow, 1 mile faster, finish with 1 mile slow) at White Street Pier at 7 pm. Everyone regroups at the end of each mile, so no worries about getting separated because of pace.

Wed, July 7 morning and evening: 

6 am and 6 pm Track Workouts. Two opportunities for a track workout at Key West High School depending on your schedule. 1 mile warm-up, 4 x 400m sprints (that is 1 lap around the track) each with 400m recovery jogs after each one, 8 x 200m sprints (that is a half-lap) each with 200m recovery jogs, and 8 x 100m sprints each with 100m recovery jogs, and a 1 mile cool-down. Or just come out and do laps.

Thur, July 8 evening:

Bridges run starting at Albertson's food store parking lot at 7 pm. 5 mile route will include 6 trips over the Garrison Bight Marina bridge. Route can be shortened to 2 miles if needed by skipping the bridge.

Fri, July 9 morning:

Easy Cheesy comfortable pace 3 mile run at Waffle House parking lot at 6 am. Route will travel around Stock Island golf course and College Road loop. Great day for beginners.

Sat, July 10 morning:

4 mile fun run up the beach starting at White Street Pier at 7 am. Turn-around point will be in front of the airport. Bathrooms and water fountain inside airport if needed.

Sun, July 11 morning: 

12 mile long run. Broken up into a 5 mile run starting at 6 am and a 7 mile run starting at 7 am, both times at Grim's Grill parking lot.  We'll come back between the two runs and drop off runners and pick up new ones at the top of the hour in case you don't want to do the whole thing.

The Crime stoppers July 4 5K Run/Walk sponsored by Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys and host The Sheraton Resort will be held on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at 7:00am. Registration fee will be $25 and $30 on Race Day, discounts for youth and military. The first 200 entrants will receive a specially designed t-shirt and be eligible for an incredible raffle including lots of great prizes.

Crime stoppers of the Keys is a non-profit corporation that provides a valuable service to local law enforcement. Crime stoppers raises money to pay rewards given to anonymous tipsters who give information leading to arrests. The past year Crime Stoppers has assisted local law enforcement with more than 380 arrest, 500 felony arrests and recovery of over 3 million dollars of drugs, cash or stolen property. This is the organization’s only fund-raiser of the year.

 

Custom made awards will be given to first place overall male and female, first, second male and female in each age division. Divisions are 14 & under to 75 & over in five year age groups. Walkers Awards will be first through fifth Male and Female. We will also have special prizes for Patriotic Costumes. The awards ceremony will take place at the Sheraton Resort, 2001 South Roosevelt Blvd. with food & beverages and tons of give-aways.

 

Entry forms can be picked up at the Sheraton Resort, Key West City Hall, Key West Police Department, and local fitness centers. The Sheraton Resort will host a pre-registration Saturday, July 3 between 5pm and 7pm. Race Packets can be picked up at this time or on race day July 4 from 6:00am on Smather’s Beach across from the Sheraton Resort.

 

The course will be a flat, fast course starting and ending at Smather’s Beach. All proceed will benefit Crime Stoppers of the Florida Keys.
